Training
The BIKE-HEI Training Programme on Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship aims to empower students, academic staff, and non-academic staff in higher education institutions (HEIs) with the knowledge and skills needed to foster sustainability-driven innovation ecosystems.
Trainers include experts from the University of Alicante, University of Primorska, Saarland University, and Mariupol State University, offering real-world insights and interactive teaching.
Developed by a consortium of European universities, this interdisciplinary course covers key topics such as:

Driving Sustainable Innovation
Training Programme for Students on Green Transistion, Communication and Entrepreneurship
This training programme equips students with the knowledge, skills, and competences to drive sustainable innovation in business and society.
Through a combination of interactive lectures, case studies, team projects, and self-study, students will explore the green transition, sustainable business models, effective communication for sustainability, and strategies for resilience in complex environments. By the end of the programme, students will be able to develop innovative, responsible, and adaptable solutions that address environmental, social, and economic challenges.
Course objectives
- Understand the principles of the green transition and sustainable development, and their application in business, entrepreneurship, and organizational contexts.
- Design, evaluate, and implement sustainable business models, start-up concepts, and innovative solutions that generate environmental, social, and economic value.

Enhancing Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Strategies for Green Transition and Organisational Resilience for Academic Staff
This programme helps academic staff gain practical skills to support innovation, sustainability, and resilience in their university, academic and research work.
Participants will learn how to understand and engage with innovation ecosystems, work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, plan and run eco-friendly meetings, conferences, events, and use digital and green strategies to improve research practices.
Course objectives
- Understand what an innovation ecosystem is, differentiate it from an entrepreneurial ecosystem, and identify the key actors, institutions, and processes that drive innovation.
- Develop leadership, team management, communication and conflict resolution skills for interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration, particularly in sustainability-focused projects.
- Plan and lead sustainable academic events, meetings, and projects using eco-friendly practices.
- Foster collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement to support inclusive, responsible, and adaptable approaches in academic and organizational settings.
Non-academic staff
Empowering Sustainable Workplace Practices
Innovation, Digital Tools, and Green Transition for Non-Academic Staff
This training programme helps non-academic staff gain practical skills to support innovation, sustainability, and resilience in their daily work.
Through interactive sessions, exercises, and case studies, participants will learn how to use digital tools efficiently, plan and run eco-friendly meetings, contribute to innovation projects, and adapt to change. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to apply these skills to make their work more efficient, sustainable, and supportive of the university’s goals.
Course objectives
- Understand the structure and dynamics of innovation ecosystems and identify how university resources and processes can support innovation and knowledge development in day-to-day operations.
- Apply digital tools and sustainable workflows to increase resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and align daily administrative and operational tasks with institutional sustainability goals.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate efficient, inclusive, and eco-conscious meetings—both in-person and online—using digital platforms, clear agendas, and participatory methods to maximize outcomes and minimize waste.
- Work better in teams, communicate clearly, and handle conflicts in diverse groups.
- Learn how to adapt to change, improve processes, and make their workplace more resilient.
